The Camping and Caravanning Club

The Client

The Camping and Caravanning Club (CCC) was established in 1901 and is one of the world’s oldest and largest clubs for all forms of camping. The clubs popularity continues to grow with over 600,000 members who range from having a budding interest to life time passion for camping, caravanning or motor homing. Not only are guests offered places to stay whilst on holiday, but the club offers a wide range of products available to benefit members, including manoeuvring courses with qualified driving instructors and more. Countrystyle works with CCC on a national level, offering full Waste Management Service across the UK, incorporating all 96 camping and caravanning sites into the contract.

The Solution

Services include General Waste, Mixed Recycling, Wet and Sanitary Waste collections. Countrystyle also looks after the clubs Hazardous Waste when required at the individual sites across the UK, Scotland and Northern Ireland on an ad-hoc basis. With a dedicated Account Manager and tailored service developed for each sites’ requirements (including seasonal factors), Countrystyle has been able to offer a cost saving service across the country. Collections for sites in the South East are made by Countrystyle’s own fleet of vehicles, with all other sites subcontracted to local Countrystyle-approved subcontractors. Not only does this reduce transportation costs, but it also helps local employment and adds to the development of the local and regional economies.

KEY FACTS

  • Countrystyle and the CCC have worked together since 2012.
  • Individual sites are able to recycle more materials through improved operations and on-site segregation instigated by Countrystyle. Overall this has increased cost efficiency and improved recycling rates throughout the club.
  • The CCC has been able to significantly increase its landfill diversion rate.

The Challenge

The CCC require a one-stop-shop solution to their waste requirements for all of the sites operating across the UK, including Scotland and Northern Ireland. Due to the seasonal nature of the business they required a unique and tailored solution, enabling them to raise their green credentials of each site and most importantly, offer visitors an easy to use service.

“The Camping and Caravanning Club operates across the UK offering customers fantastic locations to stay, we needed a complete waste management company that could tailor services and handle fluctuating demand from each site. Countrystyle has assisted us over the years to significantly improve our recycling rates, and work towards sustaining the environments that are important to our clients, as service was imperative. Countrystyle also assigned us a 24 hr call out service and dedicated Account Manager who is our single point of contact throughout the contract, this is an invaluable service to CCC and on many occasions this service has been put to the test.”
