The Walk to School scheme which is made up of a number of programs Wednesday (WOW) and Active Bug and aims to reduce the number of car journeys made on Kent’s roads.

This year all the schools involved in the schemes were invited to an awards ceremony held at Leeds Castle to celebrate their achievements.

David Joyner, transport and safety policy manager for KCC, said: “Half of adults don’t take the recommended physical activity each week and up to a third of children are obese and not healthy weight by the time they leave primary schools.

This year saw an impressive 250,871 less car journeys made which is 40,000 more than the previous year.

Congratulations to everyone involved.
